1. Introduction
Build Wise ("the app", "we", "us") is a construction budget and project management application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled. Build Wise is designed to be offline-first and privacy-respecting: your project data stays on your device.
2. Information We Collect
Build Wise does not require an account and does not collect unnecessary personal data. The app does not transmit your projects, expenses, materials, stages, photos, or reports to us or to any third-party server.
All information you enter — including project details, budgets, expenses, materials, construction stages, notes, and photos — is created and stored by you, on your device.
3. Local Storage
Your data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database. We do not maintain a copy of your data on any cloud service or backend. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, your information is removed from the device (unless you have created a backup file).
4. Photos
Progress photos you capture or select are stored locally within the app's storage on your device. Photos are linked to your projects and stages only on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
5. Import & Export (Backups)
Build Wise lets you export a project (or all projects) to a backup file (a .zip archive) and import it later, including on another device. Backup files are created and stored wherever you choose (for example, your device storage or a location you share to). You are responsible for the security and storage of any backup files you create or share. Build Wise does not access or transmit these files on your behalf.
6. Permissions
The app may request the following device permissions, used only to provide app features:
- Camera — to capture progress photos (only when you choose to take a photo).
- Photos / Storage — to select images and to read or write backup files during import and export.
Permissions are used solely on-device for the stated purposes. We do not use them to collect or transmit data.
7. Third-Party Services
Build Wise is offline-first and does not integrate advertising, analytics, or cloud-sync services that collect your personal data. If a future version introduces optional online features, this policy will be updated and such features will be clearly described.
8. Children's Privacy
Build Wise is intended for general audiences managing construction projects and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data Security
Because your data remains on your device, its security depends on your device's own protections (such as screen lock and device encryption) and on how you store any backup files you create.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
